A Delta State-based makeup artist, Deborah Ibarra, has accused popular relationship coach and social media personality, Blessing CEO, of allegedly using her medical report to falsely claim a cancer diagnosis and solicit public sympathy and financial support.
Speaking in an emotional video shared online, Ibarra, who identified herself as the Creative Director of Zazie Beauty Place in Asaba, said she unknowingly provided her medical records to Blessing CEO under the impression that she was offering support to someone battling cancer.
“I am the very lady whose results were doctored,” Ibarra said. “I thought I was helping someone in need, not knowing she had another agenda.”
Ibarra explained that she first met Blessing CEO in 2025 when the influencer visited Asaba for a photoshoot, during which she worked as her makeup artist.
According to her, their paths crossed again recently when Blessing CEO began posting emotional videos on social media, claiming she had been diagnosed with stage four cancer. The posts, which showed her crying and appealing to the public, reportedly triggered widespread concern and support.
Concerned about the claims, Ibarra said a mutual friend reached out to Blessing CEO via a phone call, during which she joined to offer encouragement and share her own experience as a cancer survivor.
“I started encouraging her, telling her to stay strong and seek proper medical care,” she said. “I even prayed with her and recommended resources.”
During subsequent conversations, Ibarra said Blessing CEO requested to see her medical report, claiming she wanted to compare it with her own diagnosis.
“She pleaded with me to send my results so she could compare them with what her doctor gave her,” Ibarra recounted. “Out of goodwill, I sent it to her.”
However, days later, Ibarra said she was shocked to discover that the same document had allegedly been altered and circulated online by Blessing CEO as proof of her own illness.
“I saw my report being used on social media to back up what I now believe is a false narrative,” she said. “It was heartbreaking.”
Emotional and Psychological Impact
Ibarra, who said she recently completed her cancer treatment in January, described the experience as deeply traumatic.
“I should be resting and recovering, not dealing with this kind of emotional stress,” she said. “This is wickedness. This is evil.”
She stressed that she has no connection to any fundraising efforts linked to Blessing CEO’s claims and urged the public not to associate her with the alleged scheme.
“I am not a party to whatever she is doing. I don’t know anything about any money being raised,” she added.
Alleged Confrontation
The makeup artist further alleged that Blessing CEO later denied knowing her publicly, despite their prior interaction.
She also claimed the influencer visited her family residence in Asaba to address the situation.
According to Ibarra, her husband advised that Blessing CEO should publicly apologise and clarify the situation to Nigerians.
The controversy surrounding Blessing CEO began in late March 2026 when she announced on social media that she had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
In a series of emotional posts and videos, the influencer claimed she was undergoing severe health challenges, stating that she might sell personal assets, including property, to fund treatment.
The development sparked an outpouring of sympathy from followers, with some reportedly offering financial assistance.
However, doubts soon emerged online as inconsistencies were observed in the documents and narratives shared. Critics questioned the authenticity of the medical reports and the timing of the fundraising appeals.
Ibarra’s allegations have further intensified scrutiny around the claims, raising broader concerns about misinformation, emotional manipulation, and potential fraud on social media platforms.
