Goalkeepers are often less celebrated than attacking stars, but the game’s elite shot-stoppers are commanding enormous salaries, with several earning more than £150,000 every week.
According to figures from Capology, compiled by Planet Football, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak leads the list of the highest-paid goalkeepers in world football in 2026.
The Slovenian earns a reported £342,127 weekly, putting him comfortably ahead of the other goalkeepers on the list.
Here are the 10 highest-paid goalkeepers:
1. Jan Oblak — £342,127 per week
Oblak tops the ranking with a reported weekly salary of £342,127 at Atletico Madrid.
The 33-year-old did not move into first place because of a new pay rise. Rather, he inherited the position after the goalkeeper who previously occupied the top spot agreed to a salary reduction.
Since joining Atletico, Oblak has developed into one of the most highly regarded goalkeepers of his generation. He still has two years left on his contract with the Spanish club.
2. Marc-Andre ter Stegen — £271,665 per week
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is second with reported weekly earnings of £271,665.
The Germany international is spending the season on loan at Ajax, who reportedly cover only about 10 per cent of his wages, with Barcelona paying the remaining amount.
Ter Stegen, once regarded as one of the world’s finest goalkeepers, remains contracted to Barcelona until 2028.
3. Gianluigi Donnarumma — £265,000 per week
Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is the highest-paid goalkeeper in the Premier League, earning about £265,000 weekly.
The Italian joined City from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and made 43 appearances during his first campaign in England.
At 27, Donnarumma still has several years at the highest level and is earning more than he did during his time at both AC Milan and PSG.
4. Manuel Neuer — £247,849 per week
Bayern Munich veteran Manuel Neuer earns a reported £247,849 every week.
The German has previously occupied the top position in goalkeeper salary rankings but has dropped down the list following a reduction in wages on his latest contract.
Now 40, Neuer continues to extend his Bayern career on short-term agreements. His influential playing style also helped redefine the modern goalkeeper.
5. Thibaut Courtois — £246,371 per week
Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois is fifth, earning £246,371 per week.
The Belgian has established himself among the world’s best goalkeepers, particularly through his performances in major matches.
At 34, Courtois remains an important member of the Madrid side, although his current contract is entering its final year.
6. Edouard Mendy — £197,097 per week
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is the highest-paid goalkeeper in the Saudi Pro League.
The Senegal international earns approximately £197,097 per week at Al-Ahli, having moved to the Saudi club in 2023 in a deal reportedly worth around £16m.
Mendy has enjoyed considerable success since leaving European football and helped Al-Ahli win back-to-back Asian Champions League titles.
His contract extension signed in December 2025 keeps him at the club until 2028.
7. Emiliano Martinez — £175,000 per week
Argentina international Emiliano Martinez has moved up the salary rankings following his transfer to Chelsea.
While Capology does not list a confirmed figure for his Chelsea wages, SalaryLeaks reports that the goalkeeper earns approximately £175,000 per week.
That is an increase from the £150,000 weekly salary he earned at Aston Villa.
Martinez has quickly become Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper and remains one of the most recognisable goalkeepers in world football following his success with Argentina.
8. Bono — £167,532 per week
Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, widely known as Bono, earns around £167,532 per week at Al-Hilal.
Bono moved to Saudi Arabia from Sevilla in 2023 after spending more than a decade in Spain.
He has since become an important player for Al-Hilal and extended his contract in October 2025, keeping him at the club until 2028.
9. Jordan Pickford — £150,000 per week
England’s long-time first-choice goalkeeper Jordan Pickford earns approximately £150,000 every week at Everton.
The 32-year-old received a salary increase after signing a contract extension in October 2025.
Pickford has been a regular in the Premier League for around a decade and remains one of the most experienced and highly paid goalkeepers in English football.
10. Alisson Becker — £150,000 per week
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker completes the top 10 with weekly earnings of £150,000.
The Brazilian has been a key player for Liverpool throughout his eight-year spell at Anfield, contributing significantly to the club’s domestic and European successes.
However, questions remain over his long-term future at Liverpool, with the goalkeeper entering the final year of his contract.
The Reds have also already signed Giorgi Mamardashvili, who could eventually succeed Alisson as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
For now, the Brazilian remains one of the world’s leading and highest-paid goalkeepers.
