FCT resident doctors begin seven-day warning strike

Resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday commenced a seven-day warning strike to protest what they described as deep-rooted challenges confronting the territory’s health system.

The decision was contained in a communiqué signed by the President of the Association of Resident Doctors, FCT chapter, Dr. George Ebong, along with other executives.

The association lamented the “persistent systemic failures” in the FCT health sector, stressing the need for urgent and holistic reforms to improve service delivery.

According to the communiqué, resident doctors are frequently overwhelmed by excessive workloads, with many compelled to manage several departments simultaneously due to manpower shortages.

The group maintained that the strike action was necessary to draw attention to their plight and press for meaningful government intervention.
