Ex-employee sues 50 Cent over alleged retaliation, harassment

American rapper, 50 Cent is facing a civil lawsuit filed by a former employee who alleges she was wrongfully terminated after refusing to participate in illegal activities, while his team has strongly rejected the claims as unfounded.

The suit was brought by Monique Mayers, who says she worked in senior operational positions across the rapper’s business empire for about 12 years before her employment ended under contentious circumstances.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ and filed by attorney Bennitta Joseph of Joseph & Norinsberg, Mayers claims she was dismissed after refusing alleged requests tied to financial concealment and fraudulent reporting.

Mayers alleges that during a period when 50 Cent was dealing with bankruptcy proceedings, she was pressured to assist in hiding assets by placing them under her name, which she says she refused.

She also claims she was urged to file a false police report accusing his driver/bodyguard of stealing a vehicle and $600,000 in cash, an action she also declined.

Following her refusal, the lawsuit states she was fired and later faced retaliation. It further alleges that 50 Cent pushed for Forbes to retract a feature involving her and engaged in what she describes as a sustained campaign of intimidation over several years, including the use of messages, phone calls, and threats.

Mayers claims the alleged harassment “has never stopped.”

In her filing, she is seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy, along with an injunction to prevent further alleged harassment or retaliation.

Responding to the allegations, 50 Cent’s attorney Reena Jain issued a firm denial, stating they “categorically and strenuously deny the baseless allegations made in a recent civil complaint filed by Monique Mayers.” His representative also described Mayers as a “disgruntled former employee who was terminated for cause over five years ago.”

The statement continued, “This lawsuit is nothing more than a transparent attempt to use the guise of a legal proceeding to seek an unjustified payday well outside of the applicable Statute of Limitations.”

It further added, “Furthermore, [50 Cent] takes any and all threats to himself, his current and former employees, and any witnesses incredibly seriously. Contrary to the false narratives being peddled in this complaint, when these alleged threats were brought to light, Mr. Jackson’s legal counsel actively encouraged Ms. Mayers to go to the authorities. Moreover, Mr. Jackson’s counsel proactively reported these alleged threats to law enforcement as well to ensure they were thoroughly investigated.”
