England striker Chloe Kelly honoured with Barbie doll for International Women’s Day

Arsenal Women F.C. and England women’s national football team forward, Chloe Kelly, has been turned into a Barbie doll as part of a special collection released to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Kelly joins a group of elite athletes featured in Mattel’s first-ever “Barbie Dream Team,” a campaign created by Mattel to recognise women who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields.

Among the other sports icons included in the project are tennis legend Serena Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, and Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana.

Reacting to the honour, Kelly expressed her excitement about being selected as a role model in the global initiative.

“To be a Barbie role model is so special,” said Kelly, 28. “To have my very own one-of-a-kind doll – I’m very proud of that.

“You don’t really believe these things could happen. You always look for the trophies and the wins on the pitch but, off the pitch, this is a massive win.”

She added: “As a young girl, you dreamed of having these moments but they never seemed to be the case that they could come true.”

Kelly has played a significant role in the success of the England women’s team in recent years. She scored the decisive extra-time goal at Wembley as the Lionesses defeated Germany in the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

She also converted the winning penalty in the shootout against Spain that helped England retain the European title during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland.

The forward was also part of the England side that reached the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

At club level, Kelly contributed to Arsenal Women F.C.’s triumph in last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.
