Electrician dies while reconnecting power lines in Lagos — Police

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old electrician who lost his life while attempting to reconnect electricity cables to a pole in the Shasha area of the state.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, August 10, at about 11:30 a.m., according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.

“The electrician lost his life while reconnecting electricity cables to an electric pole at Shasha,” Hundeyin said.

He noted that officers from the division were dispatched to the scene immediately the case was reported. “When the case was reported, a team of police detectives visited the scene,” he added.

According to him, the victim was still alive when help arrived. “He was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” he said.

Hundeyin disclosed that the command has launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

“Investigation is in progress,” he said, urging members of the public to always engage qualified professionals and adhere strictly to safety procedures when dealing with electrical connections.
