President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is beginning to emerge from the economic challenges triggered by reforms introduced under his administration, saying the difficult period is gradually giving way to recovery and growth.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message released on Tuesday to Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe, the President said the sacrifices endured by citizens over the past three years were beginning to produce positive outcomes, including a more stable economy and improved investor confidence.
Tinubu likened the spirit of sacrifice associated with the Sallah celebration to the resilience shown by Nigerians amid economic difficulties, expressing optimism that the reforms would continue to yield benefits.
He said, “Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am pleased that the efforts and sacrifices made over the past three years have helped stabilise the economy, positioning Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment that will support job creation and economic development.”
The President added, “The journey through difficult times is ending, and brighter days are beginning to emerge.”
He expressed confidence that ongoing policies would continue to improve security and create opportunities for citizens across the country.
“By the grace of God, the reforms we have carefully pursued will continue to bring improved security and more opportunities for every Nigerian,” Tinubu said.
On insecurity, the President acknowledged that attacks by terrorists and bandits still persist in some communities despite progress made by security agencies.
Referencing the recent joint operation between Nigerian and United States forces that reportedly led to the killing of an ISIS commander, Abu-Bilal al-Manuki, in the Lake Chad region, Tinubu reassured affected communities that the government remained committed to tackling insecurity.
He stated, “I understand that despite the tireless efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, terrorists and bandits still launch attacks in some areas. I want Nigerians to know that they are not abandoned or forgotten. We will eventually overcome every force of evil.”
Tinubu also urged Muslim faithful to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for national peace, unity, and wisdom for leaders, while extending compassion and support to vulnerable members of society.
According to him, “This sacred season should inspire prayers for peace in our communities and guidance for those entrusted with leadership. We must also encourage those engaged in criminal acts to abandon violence or face the consequences of the law.”
Highlighting the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu said the festival symbolises faith, obedience, sacrifice, and compassion, values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He noted that the celebration serves as a reminder to Nigerians, regardless of religious affiliation, to embrace unity, selflessness, and care for one another.
The President further reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development as part of efforts to unlock the country’s potential.
