Edna Imade chooses Spain over Nigeria for international duty

Real Sociedad forward, Edna Imade, has chosen to represent Spain at the international level, dashing hopes of her playing for Nigeria.

Born in Morocco to Nigerian parents and raised in Spain, the 25-year-old striker received her first call-up to the Spanish national team for their UEFA Nations League fixtures against Germany on November 28 and December 2.

Her inclusion in Spain’s squad effectively ends any possibility of her featuring for the Super Falcons.

Although Imade had previously expressed interest in playing for Nigeria, Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu revealed that convincing her to join the African champions proved challenging.

Currently on loan at Real Sociedad from Bayern Munich, Imade has enjoyed a productive season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists for the Rojiblancos.
