Doctor arrested for forging fake medical report for activist Just Adetoun

The Ogun State Government has arrested a medical doctor of issuing a fake medical report to allegedly help social welfare activist, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, while the government also claimed that Onajobi has gone into hiding.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, disclosed this on Monday via the government’s official X page, adding that the activist faces a six-count charge filed by the Ogun State Police Command.

According to Ogungbade, the controversy began after Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident in Ogun State in December 2025. Following the incident, Onajobi posted videos claiming the state lacked functional ambulance services and accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting public welfare.

“She falsely claimed that there was no ambulance service anywhere in Ogun State and alleged that the Governor was in Ghana attending parties and impregnating women instead of ensuring proper emergency care,” Ogungbade said. “These claims are false, malicious, and misleading, and pose a serious public safety risk.”

Investigations revealed that Onajobi failed to respond to police invitations on January 2 and 5, 2026, despite claiming she had evidence to support her statements. While in hiding, she allegedly released another video claiming she was medically unfit to appear.

Ogungbade further stated that a Lagos-based doctor later provided a medical report purportedly confirming her illness. Police investigations, however, determined the document was fabricated.

“The doctor admitted that he never met, examined, or treated Adetoun Onajobi as claimed in the report. He has been arrested, charged, and remanded for fraudulent medical documentation and obstruction of justice,” Ogungbade said.

The Attorney General also questioned the activist’s credibility, citing previous misconduct, including the unlawful filming and sharing of images of a minor.

“Adetoun Onajobi is currently on the run. One wonders why someone who claimed to have evidence could neither present it to law enforcement nor publish it, instead resorting to forging medical records,” he added.

The Ogun State Police had earlier confirmed inviting Onajobi following a petition over her online criticisms of the Governor, including claims that the state purchased SUVs for local government chairmen instead of maintaining emergency services.

As the investigation continues, authorities stress the importance of responsible activism and accurate information dissemination to safeguard public welfare.
