Afrobeats star Davido has been appointed Head of Youth Mobilisation for the 2026 re-election campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, disclosed the development on Tuesday via his social media platform, expressing enthusiasm about contributing to his uncle’s political ambition ahead of the August 2026 governorship election.

“I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council,” he wrote. “We are looking forward to a smooth campaign and a successful re-election.”

The forthcoming election, scheduled for August 8, 2026, is already drawing heightened political activity, with parties and candidates intensifying preparations across the state.

Davido’s appointment signals a strategic move to strengthen youth engagement in the campaign, given his widespread influence among young Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

Adeleke, who is seeking a second term in office, has maintained close political ties with the singer, who has consistently shown public support during previous elections and governance activities.

Reacting to the appointment, a member of the campaign team said, “Davido’s involvement is expected to energise young voters and expand grassroots mobilisation efforts across Osun State.”

The music star has previously played roles in the state’s development initiatives. In 2025, he was named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, where he was tasked with attracting investment into sports development.
