Celebrity photographer, David Martins, has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding his troubled marriage to Alicia Daniella, accusing Nigerian gospel singer Neon Adejo of having an inappropriate relationship with his estranged wife.
Martins, who spoke out after allegations were made about his conduct during the marriage, said he initially kept quiet because he did not want to expose intimate details of his family life to the public.
However, he said the situation changed when he became concerned that remaining silent would allow what he described as a false narrative about him to take hold.
According to Martins, Alicia was not the victim of abuse as portrayed but, rather, was the one who allegedly mistreated him during their relationship.
He further alleged that she was unfaithful and that he discovered what he described as “flirty and inappropriate chats” between her and gospel singer Neon Adejo.
Martins claimed the exchanges went beyond what he considered an ordinary friendship and accused Adejo of crossing boundaries with his wife.
He reportedly shared screenshots of conversations which he said supported his allegations.
In one of the exchanges, Adejo allegedly asked Alicia to send him a selfie, while she expressed concern that the singer’s wife might discover their conversation.
Martins alleged that Adejo reassured her that his wife did not check his chats.
He also accused the gospel singer of making comments suggesting that he was prepared to confront him over issues involving Alicia.
Adejo, however, has denied the allegation.
In his response, the gospel singer said his involvement with Alicia was connected to concerns about her marriage and insisted that he would not stand by while a woman was allegedly being abused.
The controversy has therefore developed into competing accounts from the parties involved, with Martins presenting the alleged messages as evidence of inappropriate communication, while Adejo rejects the suggestion that he had an affair with Alicia.
Martins said his decision to finally address the matter publicly was also influenced by his concern for his child.
“I cannot allow my son to grow up believing his father is the monster he has now been made out to be,” he said, maintaining that he wanted to correct what he regarded as a distorted account of his marriage.
Martins said he and Alicia initially met through Instagram and began communicating before meeting physically in Lagos in November 2023.
He explained that Alicia later returned to Nigeria and stayed at his home after experiencing problems with the women she had initially been staying with during the Detty December period.
Their relationship subsequently became more serious, he said, with Alicia travelling between Nigeria and the United States before eventually spending an extended period in Nigeria.
The couple later married on February 10, 2025, and welcomed a son several months afterward.
Martins said the marriage, however, eventually became strained, leading to the allegations and counter-allegations now playing out publicly.
While Martins maintains that the alleged messages between Alicia and Adejo were evidence of infidelity, Adejo has rejected the claim.
As of the latest reports, the allegations remain disputed by the parties involved and have not been independently established.
Neon Adejo is a Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader known for songs including “Eze Ebube” and “Breathe Upon Me.” He married Lade Kehinde in 2024, and the couple welcomed a son in 2025.
