The Nigeria Customs Services, Katsina Area Command has renewed its drive for stronger inter-agency cooperation, following assurances of operational support from major security outfits in the state to enhance border control and tackle cross-border crimes.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Muhammad Saidu, disclosed this on Friday, 13 February 2026, when he hosted senior officials from the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Immigration Service during separate courtesy visits to the command headquarters in Katsina.
Saidu described the meetings as strategic and well-timed, stressing that effective border security depends on coordinated intelligence and joint operations among relevant agencies.
“Our mandate cannot be executed in isolation. When security agencies work in synergy, intelligence becomes more effective, operations become more precise, and our borders become less vulnerable to criminal exploitation.” Saidu said.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and continuous collaboration in safeguarding the nation’s economic interests.
The CAC further emphasised the need for timely exchange to curb economic sabotage.
“National security is a collective responsibility. We are committed to working closely with Customs to ensure that criminal networks do not exploit our borders,” he said.
In the same vein, the Commander of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, assured the Customs command of the Army’s readiness to provide operational support whenever required.
“Synergy among security agencies remains vital in addressing emerging security challenges, particularly in border communities. The Nigerian Army will continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service to maintain peace, protect our territorial integrity and support lawful trade,” Ibrahim said.
Also, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Katsina Command, Tanko Dogara, promised stronger cooperation in migration management and border surveillance.
The Immigration boss stressed the importance of coordinated patrols and effective monitoring of both official and unofficial routes.
“Our partnership is crucial in safeguarding our borders and ensuring compliance with immigration and customs regulations,” Dogara said.
