Conceicao, Bremer shine as Juventus beat Atalanta 2-0

Juventus secured a second consecutive victory in Serie A on Sunday, defeating Atalanta 2-0 at home in the fifth round of the campaign.

Francisco Conceicao opened the scoring in the 28th minute after Celik’s cut-back found the Portuguese winger, who finished past Marco Carnesecchi to give Juventus the lead.

Atalanta struggled to create clear opportunities as Juventus controlled much of the contest.

The visitors appealed for a penalty in the first half when Kalulu appeared to pull Rowe inside the box, but the referee and VAR did not consider the incident worthy of a spot-kick.

Juventus continued to threaten after the break, with Carnesecchi making important saves to keep Atalanta within reach.

The goalkeeper denied attempts from McKennie and Sarr, while Kolo Muani also came close to extending the hosts’ advantage.

The second goal eventually arrived in the 77th minute when Bremer rose highest to meet a corner from the right and powered a header beyond Carnesecchi.

Kolo Muani came close to adding a third late on, but Carnesecchi produced another save to deny the French forward.

The result gives Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus another positive result after their recent Europa League victory over NEC, while Atalanta suffered their third consecutive defeat following earlier losses to Roma and Cagliari.
