Chelsea wasted no time mocking rivals Arsenal after watching them suffer a painful Champions League final defeat, The Standard reports.
The Gunners fell short in Budapest after being beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in a dramatic penalty shootout that followed 120 tense minutes with nothing to separate the two sides.
Both Gabriel and Eberechi Eze failed to convert their spot-kicks in the decisive shootout, compounding Arsenal’s frustration on one of the biggest nights in European football.
Gabriel, who had arguably been Arsenal’s standout performer during the match, stepped up when it mattered most but sent his penalty soaring over the bar and into the section of celebrating PSG supporters behind the goal.
It proved to be a crushing moment in an already tight contest between two of Europe’s elite clubs.
Almost immediately after the final whistle, Chelsea were quick to capitalise on their rivals’ heartbreak with a pointed social media post.
The London club, who remain the only side in the city to have lifted the Champions League, promoted stadium tours featuring their European trophy collection front and centre.
“Come and visit London’s Home of Trophies. Book your Stadium Tour at Stamford Bridge now,” the post read.
Chelsea remain the only London club to have won the Champions League, a distinction they have used to underline their European pedigree on multiple occasions.
Their triumphs include the 2012 victory over Bayern Munich and the 2021 win against Manchester City, when Kai Havertz, who also scored the opening goal in the Budapest final for Paris Saint-Germain against Arsenal, famously netted the decisive goal.
That 2021 success remains Chelsea’s second Champions League title, following their dramatic win in Munich a decade earlier.
The club has also completed a rare set of European honours, having won all major UEFA competitions and added the expanded Club World Cup to their trophy cabinet in recent years.
