The Confederation of African Football has released key regulations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Playoffs, detailing how matches will be conducted in critical situations.
According to CAF, the following rules will be strictly applied:
Extra time will be played if a match is tied after the standard 90 minutes.
Penalty shootouts will determine the winner if scores remain level after extra time.
Teams are allowed five substitutions during normal play, with a sixth substitution permitted in extra time.
VAR (Video Assistant Referee) will be used to review all decisive moments in the matches.
In the upcoming semi-finals, Nigeria faces Gabon on November 13, while Cameroon takes on DR Congo later the same day.
The winners of these encounters will advance to the final, with a coveted ticket to the World Cup at stake.
