Nigeria has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2026 Confederation of African Football Awards and the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to take place in October 2026.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved Nigeria’s bid to host both high-profile events during the Africa Forward Summit currently ongoing in Nairobi, Kenya, following discussions with CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe.
Those present at the meeting included Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau; Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick; and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
The approval strengthens Nigeria’s standing within African football and highlights its continued commitment to the growth and development of the sport across the continent.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly will gather key stakeholders in African football, including presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and senior officials from across the continent.
Meanwhile, the CAF Awards remains an annual flagship event that recognises outstanding performers in African football, celebrated in a glamorous and prestigious setting.
