The Confederation of African Football has officially revealed the match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, aptly named ITRI.
Drawing inspiration from Morocco’s ancient zellij art, famed for its complex geometric mosaics, the ball embodies both the cultural heritage of the host nation and the unifying passion that defines African football.
The name “ITRI” also honours the star symbol found on Morocco’s national flag and mirrors the celestial patterns that are central to traditional zellij designs.
According to Mohamed Ghonemi, CAF’s Creative Development Manager, the newly designed ball represents “African spirit and Moroccan craftsmanship.”
“Created for the rhythm of African football, the AFCON 2025 ball brings together art, motion, and a design shaped by African spirit and Moroccan craftsmanship,” Ghonemi told CAFonline. “It’s been a privilege to collaborate with PUMA on something that unites every nation at the tournament through a shared sense of connection.”
The ITRI ball will make its first appearance when Morocco face Comoros in the opening match of AFCON 2025 on Sunday, December 21.
The tournament will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
