Broda Shaggi breaks silence, promises stronger return

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has spoken publicly for the first time in months, thanking his fans for standing by him during his prolonged absence from the entertainment scene.

Shaggi, who has been largely away from social media activities, public appearances and comedy shows, expressed appreciation to supporters who continued to check on him and show concern despite his silence.

In a message shared through his WhatsApp channel on Friday, the comedian said the loyalty of his fans had meant a lot to him.

“To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you,” he said.

Shaggi, however, did not reveal what led to his withdrawal from the public, saying he was not yet prepared to disclose everything he had experienced.

“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I can’t. Not yet,” he stated.

He assured his fans that he had not forgotten them and hoped to return to the entertainment scene soon.

“Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all again. I’m hoping that day comes soon,” he added.

The comedian further promised to return with renewed energy after his long absence.

“And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better, stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time,” he said.

Shaggi’s message comes months after reports of an alleged shooting incident involving him while filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command had commenced an investigation into the reports but said it could not confirm that the incident happened within the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information.

“For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced,” he said at the time.

The Lagos State Police Command also confirmed that officers were alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim receiving treatment and later identified the victim as Shaggi.

According to the command, the comedian had sustained an injury to his thigh, although the reported location of the incident was outside Lagos State’s jurisdiction.

Since then, Shaggi has maintained a low public profile, prompting concerns among fans about his wellbeing and whereabouts.

His latest message did not provide details about his experience but offered reassurance that he hopes to return to the public soon.

Shaggi, known for his energetic comedy character and social media skits, has built a significant following in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
