Army kills seven terrorists, arrests 27 in nationwide operations

The Nigerian Army has intensified nationwide operations against terrorists, insurgents, and criminal networks, neutralising seven terrorists and arresting 27 suspects in the last 48 hours.

The operations also led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and stolen crude oil products, according to the Army.

In a statement released on Sunday via the Army’s official X handle, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, reiterated the military’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks and eliminate terrorism across the country.

“Troops are taking the fight to the enemy’s doorstep, leaving no room for insurgents or economic saboteurs,” the statement said.

In the North East, Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI conducted a precision cordon-and-search in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, arresting 12 suspects linked to terror logistics and intelligence networks. Meanwhile, 192 Battalion ambushed ISWAP and JAS elements along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, neutralising three terrorists and seizing an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.

Troops of 25 Brigade in Damboa also neutralised a terrorist attempting reconnaissance under disguise.

Operations in other regions yielded similar results. In Kaduna State, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE raided a hideout in Kauru Local Government Area, eliminating two insurgents accused of recent attacks on civilians.

In Plateau and Niger states, soldiers arrested four suspects for involvement in civilian killings and neutralised a terrorist scout, recovering operational items including a motorcycle and mobile phone.

The Army also reported successes in the South-South region. Troops in Akwa Ibom arrested three illegal miners involved in black sand trading, while 144 Battalion in Abia State discovered an illegal crude refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude oil.

Similarly, 34 Artillery Brigade uncovered another refining hub in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, seizing six drums of stolen crude oil and a canoe used for transportation.

In Delta State, 90 Amphibious Battalion apprehended three suspects, including a man impersonating a soldier, during a checkpoint operation in Sapele. Recovered items included fake military ranks, mobile phones, and charms.

Lieutenant General Shaibu praised the troops for their “revitalised combat posture” and renewed determination to protect citizens and defend Nigeria’s sovereignty.
