Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak speech for human intelligence attracts remarks

Graduating students at Grand Valley State University gave a warm reception to Steve Wozniak after he highlighted the value of human intelligence over artificial intelligence during his commencement speech.

The Apple co-founder addressed the Class of 2026 during the university’s graduation ceremony, where his remarks drew applause and laughter from the audience.

Unlike some recent commencement speeches that sparked criticism online over discussions about AI, Wozniak’s comments were embraced by the graduates.

Speaking about artificial and human intelligence, he told the students, “You all have AI…actual intelligence,” prompting loud cheers from the crowd.

Wozniak also reflected on his long career in the technology industry, using humour to emphasize the uniqueness of the human mind rather than focusing solely on machines and software.

He said, “My entire life in the technical world, I’ve been following people who were trying to figure out how to make a brain. I was at a company where the engineers figured out how to make a brain…it takes …”

Sharing the video on Instagram, Market Watch wrote, “His comments received a warmer response from graduates than other recent incidents, where commencement speakers were booed for discussing and praising artificial intelligence.?”

The post quickly attracted reactions from social media users.
