The All Progressives Congress has announced the successful submission of its presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party confirmed that President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will fly its presidential ticket, alongside 109 Senate candidates and 360 House of Representatives candidates, bringing the total number of uploaded nominees to 471.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, following the completion of the nomination process.
Yilwatda congratulated the party’s candidates, leaders and members for meeting the submission deadline.
“I congratulate our candidates, leaders and members of the APC on the successful 100 per cent upload of our Presidential, Vice Presidential, Senate and House of Representatives candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” he said.
He noted that the successful completion of the exercise marked the beginning of the party’s preparations for the next phase of the election.
“With this milestone achieved, our focus now shifts to mobilisation and preparations for a successful campaign and decisive victory at the polls,” Yilwatda added.
The submission confirms the retention of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over the composition of the ruling party’s presidential ticket.
The upload was completed in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which required political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their presidential and National Assembly candidates through the Candidate Nomination Portal.
Under the commission’s schedule, political parties were granted access to the portal on June 26, while the submission of nomination forms commenced on June 27 in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026.
The APC said it had successfully completed the process by uploading all 471 candidates for the offices covered by the portal.
