Anambra First Lady urges love, kindness on Valentine’s

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has called on Nigerians to mark this year’s Valentine’s Day by showing love not only to family and friends but also to people in need.

In a message issued on Saturday to commemorate the celebration, the Anambra First Lady encouraged citizens to use the occasion to spread kindness through both words and actions, stressing that genuine affection can make a lasting difference in society.

Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, noted that love remains one of the most powerful gifts people can share.

“There is nothing more touching than the gift of true love. Loving others means keeping an open and gracious heart, free from hate, unkindness, and inhumanity,” she said.

She urged Nigerians not to limit acts of generosity to celebrations alone but to make compassion a daily habit.

“Give not only because it is Valentine’s Day, but because even a small act of love can leave a lasting impact,” she added.

“Let your words and actions today reflect genuine affection and kindness.”

The First Lady also encouraged people to celebrate the day with loved ones while remembering to extend care to those around them, noting that the season offers an opportunity to strengthen bonds and promote unity.

“Celebrate with those you cherish, but remember to reach out to others as well. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone,” she said.

Valentine’s Day, originally observed in honour of Saint Valentine, has grown over time into a global celebration associated with love, commitment, and compassion.
