Anambra First Lady hails recovery of abused 10-year-old domestic abuse victims

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has expressed satisfaction with the steady recovery of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly brutalised by his guardians in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The boy, Chiziterem, came into public attention after a viral video showed him with severe burns and other injuries allegedly inflicted by his caregivers in the Awada area of Obosi. He is currently receiving treatment under the protection of the state government.

During a follow-up visit to the hospital, Mrs Soludo said medical reports indicated that the child’s condition had improved significantly since her previous visit.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the First Lady commended the healthcare workers attending to the boy and attributed his progress to their commitment, as well as the support and prayers of concerned Nigerians.

“I paid another visit to young Chiziterem today to monitor his recovery and offer his family encouragement. I am delighted to see that he is making remarkable progress and is much stronger than when I last visited,” she said.

She added, “His steady recovery is a testament to the dedication of the medical team and the outpouring of love, support and prayers from kind-hearted individuals.”

Mrs Soludo assured that the state government would continue to monitor the boy’s welfare until he fully recovers and is reunited with his family.

“As promised, I will continue to keep a close watch on his wellbeing to ensure he receives the care and support he needs until he is fully recovered and reunited with his family,” she stated.
