Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has urged Kobbie Mainoo to remain patient amid limited opportunities at the club.
The England international has seen little action this preseason and did not feature in United’s 1-0 opening Premier League loss to Arsenal, remaining on the bench throughout the match.
Ahead of the Red Devils’ upcoming game against Fulham, Amorim spoke to the club’s website about Mainoo, taking ownership of the situation.
“We had some issues but we play with two midfielders, so it’s sometimes a different way of playing, and we have to understand, they have to understand, especially the young players, that there is phases in the season.
“Nowadays it’s normal with a lot of games, things are going to change, but he is there, he’s fighting, he’s training, so he’s one more option for us to win games.”
The Portuguese coach also touched on how Mainoo fits into his tactical plans and provided an update on the midfielder’s contract status.
