Air Peace has temporarily suspended its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick flight after a minor technical issue was detected during a routine post-boarding inspection of the aircraft.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the airline explained that the fault was discovered shortly after passengers had boarded the plane, prompting the aircraft to be withdrawn from service in line with safety procedures.
“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the airline stated.
According to the carrier, all passengers were safely disembarked while its engineering team began work on resolving the issue.
Air Peace emphasised that passenger safety remains its highest priority, noting that the temporary suspension of the flight was a necessary precaution despite the inconvenience caused to travellers.
“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the statement read.
The airline added that affected passengers were promptly informed about the development and provided with hotel accommodation and other support services while arrangements were being made for their onward journey.
“While we understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused, taking swift preventive action was the responsible and necessary decision,” the airline added.
To reduce further disruption, the airline disclosed that a replacement aircraft would be dispatched from London to operate the delayed service.
“A replacement aircraft from London will be deployed, and passengers are expected to depart this morning,” the statement noted.
Air Peace also thanked passengers for their patience and understanding during the delay, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable operations.
“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period. Their trust remains incredibly important to us,” the airline said.
