An Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt skidded off the runway upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning, July 13, 2025.
The airline has confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were recorded.
The incident involved Flight P47190 and occurred shortly after the aircraft touched down in the Rivers State capital. In a statement issued by Air Peace’s spokesperson, Osifo-whiskey Efe, the airline noted that the aircraft experienced a “runway excursion” but managed to land safely.
“Air Peace confirms that its Flight P47190, operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt this morning, had a runway excursion after landing safely at the Port Harcourt International Airport,” the statement read.
According to Efe, the aircraft “veered slightly off the runway without any damage.” He assured the public that passengers disembarked “safely and calmly,” adding that “no injuries were reported.”
Reaffirming the airline’s commitment to safety, Efe stated, “We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”
This is not the first recent incident involving the airline. On May 11, 2025, another Air Peace flight was grounded at Asaba International Airport after it struck a large antelope while taxiing on the runway.
The collision killed the animal and disrupted flight schedules.
Reacting to that event, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, clarified via his official X account that while some incidents are unavoidable, airlines are still expected to fulfill their obligations to passengers.
Air Peace has continued to emphasize its adherence to safety protocols and has pledged full cooperation with relevant authorities as investigations into the latest incident proceed.
