Alex Iwobi has revealed that he and his Super Eagles teammates are putting in significant effort, hoping it will pay off when they face their Group C opponents.
On Monday, the Super Eagles continued their preparations ahead of their opening match against Tanzania, scheduled for today (Tuesday).
Despite light rain, both players and coaching staff were fully engaged in training as they gear up to start their campaign.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the session, Iwobi reflected on the recent friendly defeat to Egypt, emphasizing that the team focused on lessons learned from the game.
“We lost a preparation game but we took some positives, a lot of new faces a lot of people adapting to the system, adapting to the way the manager wants us to play.
“We are still preparing, we are working hard, we have the full team now together hopefully the preparation will go well and we will get the results.”
Heading into the match against Tanzania, the Super Eagles are clear favourites, having won five times and drawn three times against the East African side.
Their only previous AFCON meeting was in the opening game of the 1980 edition in Nigeria, which ended 3-1 in favour of the hosts.
