Lagos police arrests suspect for cable theft

A 27-year-old man, Abubakar Haruna has been apprehended by the Lagos Police Command for his involvement in cable theft.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement posted on the X page by the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to Hundeyin, the suspect was caught after he unlawfully entered a compound and proceeded to sever cables from the transformer within the premises.

Upon his arrest, Haruna was found in possession of a machete, two saws, and pliers.

The spokesperson further stated that an ongoing investigation is being conducted into the matter.

The statement read, “Following a distress call, officers of Onikan Division have arrested one Abubakar Haruna, aged27, after he jumped into a compound and cut off cables from the transformer within the premises. He was arrested with a machete, two saws, and pliers. Investigation is ongoing.”
