APC Chieftain criticizes Simon Ekpa’s destructive impact on southeast economy

A prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress and former Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, has strongly condemned the negative effects of Simon Ekpa’s separatist activities on the economy of Nigeria’s Southeast region.

Reacting to the recent arrest of Ekpa, who is based in Finland, Okechukwu labeled him a “criminal and murderer” whose actions have led to significant suffering in the Southeast.

He emphasized that Ekpa’s enforcement of illegal sit-at-home orders has not only destabilized the region’s economy but also caused unnecessary loss of life, according to Politics Nigeria.

Okechukwu stated that Ekpa’s actions have devastated the economy of the Southeast without justification. He pointed out that the separatist’s activities have destroyed livelihoods, hindered business operations, and exacerbated the region’s economic challenges.

The APC chieftain also criticized Ekpa’s tactics for fostering violence and fear among the people. He stressed that while the region faces challenges, Ekpa’s approach of using violence and economic sabotage is unacceptable.

Okechukwu argued that there are more constructive ways to address the issues facing the Southeast, rather than resorting to bloodshed and destruction.

In his statement, Okechukwu commended Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and security agencies for their efforts in apprehending Ekpa.

He expressed hope that justice would be served, whether in Finland or Nigeria, and that the arrest would hold Ekpa accountable for the harm caused to the people of the Southeast.

“The arrest of Simon Ekpa was long overdue,” Okechukwu remarked, emphasizing that his sentencing would be an important step toward healing and rebuilding the region. He called on Southeast stakeholders to reject Ekpa’s divisive methods and instead focus on fostering sustainable development and unity in the region.

Okechukwu urged the people of the Southeast to work towards a future that prioritizes progress and the well-being of all.

“Simon Ekpa’s actions have grounded the economy of the Southeast for no just cause. He has destroyed livelihoods, hindered business activities, and worsened the region’s economic plight.

” There are better strategies to address the marginalization of our people, but Ekpa’s approach of killings, maiming, and economic sabotage is unjustifiable,” he said.
