Ekiti politician and philanthropist, Opeyemi Falegan, has apologised to Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, years after their highly publicised relationship ended in controversy.
Falegan tendered the apology during a TikTok Live session with the actress on Saturday, as the former partners revisited the disagreements that led to their separation in 2022.
During the conversation, Nkechi said she needed an apology before she could put the past behind her, recalling that some of Falegan’s comments during their earlier social media exchanges continued to attract negative reactions from internet users.
The actress noted that remarks made years ago were still being used to ridicule her online, stressing that the internet rarely forgets past controversies.
She said, “There’s no letting go without an apology.”
Nkechi also recalled defending Falegan against allegations and criticisms on social media, despite their differences, insisting that their past disagreements should not make them enemies.
Responding, Falegan maintained that he had become a different person and urged both parties to move beyond their previous misunderstandings.
“Who I was yesterday is not who I am today,” he said.
He eventually apologised, expressing his desire for the actress to let go of any lingering resentment.
“From the bottom of my heart to the depth of my soul, do not be angry, Nkechi. That is gone,” Falegan said.
The relationship between the duo attracted considerable public attention in 2022 following their separation, which was accompanied by social media exchanges and accusations.
Although they had publicly portrayed themselves as a married couple, reports at the time indicated that their union was not legally formalised.
