EPL: Brentford beat Nottingham Forest 2-0

Brentford secured a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, extending the visitors’ struggles as their poor goalscoring form continued at the Gtech Community Stadium.

An own goal from Nikola Milenkovic gave the hosts the lead in the 30th minute after Dango Ouattara delivered a dangerous cross into the Forest penalty area.

The defender inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net following Ouattara’s impressive run.

Forest had opportunities to get back into the contest but failed to make them count.

James McAtee wasted a promising chance in the first half, curling his effort wide after finding space inside the Brentford box.

The visitors continued to struggle after the break, with substitute Ryan Yates missing another golden opportunity when he headed over from close range following a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White in the 54th minute.

Brentford eventually doubled their advantage in the 76th minute when Igor Thiago found the back of the net with a deflected effort.

The Brazilian striker was set up by substitute Jaidon Anthony, putting the result beyond Forest’s reach.

Forest managed only one shot on target throughout the encounter, with McAtee’s tame effort in the 79th minute easily gathered by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The defeat leaves Oliver Glasner’s side in the relegation zone, with just six goals scored this season, making them the lowest-scoring team in the Premier League.

Their disappointing display also drew the anger of travelling supporters, who booed the players at full-time.
