Turkish giants Besiktas secured a 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday, with second-half goals from Oh Hyeon-gyu and Olaitan sealing the win.
The hosts dominated several attacking moments in the first half but struggled to find the breakthrough.
Ndidi narrowly missed the target in the 10th minute before Vlahovic struck the post with a header seven minutes later.
Ndidi had another opportunity in the 26th minute but headed wide, while Olsen also failed to hit the target before the interval as both sides went into the break without a goal.
Basaksehir goalkeeper Nübel was called into action shortly after the restart, turning Kemen’s effort around the post.
He also denied Shomurodov in the 63rd minute before Muhammed Şengezer saved Oh’s long-range attempt three minutes later.
Besiktas eventually broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when Vlahovic’s headed pass found Oh, who beat the opposing defenders and goalkeeper before calmly finishing into an unguarded net.
Poku nearly doubled the hosts’ advantage four minutes later, but Şengezer stopped his effort with his legs.
Besiktas, however, secured the result in the 89th minute when Olaitan produced a precise finish from the right edge of the penalty area, sending the ball into the far corner.
The victory gave Besiktas all three points in the ninth round of the Turkish Super Lig.
