Salah scores as Trabzonspor beat Besiktas 2-0 in Super Lig derby

Trabzonspor claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over Besiktas in their Turkish Super Lig derby, with goals from Ozan Tufan and Salah securing all three points for the home side.

The victory gave Trabzonspor an important win over a direct league rival, while Besiktas were left disappointed after failing to convert several promising scoring opportunities.

Trabzonspor took the lead through Tufan, who reacted quickly to a rebound inside the penalty area.

Muçi delivered the ball from the left, and although goalkeeper Nübel managed to parry the initial effort, Tufan was on hand to fire home and put his team ahead.

The hosts doubled their advantage through Salah following a defensive interception by Dju.

After winning possession from Salih on the left, Dju delivered the ball into the penalty area, where Salah finished with a first-time strike to make it 2-0.

Besiktas attempted to fight their way back into the contest but struggled to find a breakthrough.

Onana produced an important save to deny Olaitan’s header from a Rıdvan cross before stopping Cerny’s effort from outside the box.

Miretti also missed an opportunity when his attempt sailed over the crossbar after he received a pass from the right.

Trabzonspor continued to threaten, with Dju forcing Nübel into action after running onto a through ball from Salah.

Trossard later tested Onana, while Murillo came close to reducing the deficit but struck the post on the rebound.

Before the match, Trabzonspor coach Thomas Reis acknowledged the challenge posed by Besiktas, praising the atmosphere surrounding the encounter and describing the fixture as a difficult test for his team.

Reis also addressed the club’s injury concerns, insisting that the absence of some players would not be used as an excuse.

He expressed confidence in the available squad and said his players were prepared to give their best.

The Trabzonspor manager further noted that the demanding fixture schedule left limited time for tactical assessments but maintained that his team was accustomed to such challenges.

Meanwhile, Besiktas coach Vincenzo Italiano admitted that his side had little time to prepare for the derby following their trip to Germany.

Italiano explained that both teams were dealing with a congested schedule, adding that mental readiness would be crucial to securing a positive result.

He also expressed satisfaction with Miretti’s recent performances and physical condition, while confirming that Cerny and Dusan Vlahovic were rested and available for the encounter.

The Besiktas manager stressed the importance of the fixture, describing Trabzonspor as a direct rival and emphasising the need for his team to deliver a strong performance.

Raul Martin Gonzalez Frances was appointed as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the derby.
