England delivered a stunning performance on Saturday, hammering Croatia 7-0 in their UEFA Nations League Group A3 encounter in Rijeka.
Captain Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scored twice each, while Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Morgan Rogers were also on target as Thomas Tuchel’s side recorded a commanding victory over the Croatians.
Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute after being played through by Bellingham, firing into the roof of the net to give England an early lead.
Bellingham doubled the advantage 13 minutes later, converting from Gordon’s assist before Gordon added a third in the 39th minute with a header from Jarell Quansah’s cross.
England continued their dominance before the break, with Bellingham turning provider again as he set up Saka for the fourth goal in the 45th minute.
Croatia had a chance to reduce the deficit when Mateo Kovacic missed an open goal, but England resumed their assault after the interval.
Kane struck again in the 53rd minute after connecting with Elliot Anderson’s cross, while Saka took advantage of a Josip Stanisic error to make it 6-0 in the 68th minute.
Rogers completed the rout three minutes from full time after racing through to score England’s seventh goal.
The emphatic result marked Croatia’s heaviest defeat and gave England a major boost in their Nations League campaign.
England will host the Czech Republic on Tuesday before facing Croatia and Spain in November.
