Portugal secured a 2-1 victory over Norway in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, with AC Milan striker Goncalo Ramos scoring the winning goal after Erling Haaland had levelled for the hosts.
Portugal took the lead in the 17th minute when Joao Felix finished from the edge of the box after Pedro Neto had been played through by Nuno Mendes.
Felix, who also scored in Portugal’s opening win over Wales, placed his effort into the bottom-left corner.
Norway responded with sustained pressure as Haaland came close on several occasions.
Diogo Costa denied the Manchester City forward from close range, while Ruben Dias also produced an important block to prevent another attempt.
Haaland eventually got his goal shortly after the restart.
Patrick Berg’s header fell into his path after Martin Odegaard’s free-kick had been saved, allowing the striker to fire Norway level.
However, Portugal regained the advantage moments later following a costly error by goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.
The Norway goalkeeper gave the ball away, allowing Ramos to take advantage and lift a composed finish over him into the net.
Portugal came close to extending their lead when Rafael Leao struck the crossbar, while Ramos later appeared to score again after another Nyland mistake.
The effort was ruled out for offside.
Norway thought they had equalised through Odegaard late on, but the goal was disallowed after the Arsenal captain was penalised for a foul on Renato Veiga.
The victory gives Portugal two wins from their opening two Nations League matches and moves them to the top of Group A4, while new manager Jorge Jesus maintains his perfect start in charge of the national team.
