The estate of late country music legend, Dolly Parton, has sued her nephew and former head of security, Bryan Seaver, over alleged violent threats and attempts to obtain money from the singer’s estate.
The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday by She’s Alive LLC, a company established by Parton before her death to manage her posthumous finances and business affairs, alleges that Seaver became increasingly threatening following his aunt’s death.
She’s Alive LLC is managed by Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell.
The estate claims Seaver, who has a military background, made a series of increasingly violent statements in written messages to members of Parton’s team.
“I’m a killer,” Seaver allegedly wrote to one of Parton’s attorneys.
In another message to Nozell, he allegedly said, “I’m going to spend the next times I have on earth ratf—king anyone that has ever betrayed my family.”
Seaver allegedly sent another message to Nozell which read, “I’m literally an international arms dealer and mercenary. All I do is warfare. Everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”
According to the lawsuit, Seaver was dismissed from his security position on September 16 because of his alleged conduct.
However, the estate said it remains concerned about the safety of Parton’s staff and has asked the court to issue a restraining order preventing Seaver from coming within 1,000 feet of members of the team.
“Mr. Seaver has been relentless,” the lawsuit stated. “These were not ordinary workplace disputes or heated words; they were deliberate threats from a self-proclaimed heavily armed, former security operative with a military-contractor background. Many of [Parton’s staff members] are now afraid to come to work or have resigned entirely because they do not feel safe.”
Seaver had not immediately responded to a request for comment on the lawsuit.
