President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, as she marks her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante.”
The President, in a birthday message shared on his verified X account on Monday, praised the First Lady for her patience, courage, compassion and steadfast support throughout their years together.
Tinubu said Oluremi had remained by his side through various stages of his life, providing counsel and sharing his burdens, particularly during difficult periods.
He quoted a Yoruba proverb, saying, “Àwọn àgbà sọ pé, ‘Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀.’ A good wife is her husband’s crown.”
The President also described Oluremi as a source of strength who had given practical meaning to the biblical virtues of a good and faithful woman.
According to him, she had stood beside him during uncertain moments and offered honest advice even when it was difficult to hear.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” Tinubu said.
He commended the First Lady for her contribution to raising their children and grandchildren, noting that her faith, kindness and devotion had influenced the family.
Tinubu also highlighted Oluremi’s humanitarian activities, including her work through the New Era Foundation and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
He said her interventions had benefited young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers in different parts of the country.
The President further acknowledged her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other health challenges, describing her as a compassionate advocate whose concern extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.
Reflecting on their marriage, Tinubu said the difficult decisions, sacrifices, prayers and shared experiences over the years had strengthened their relationship.
“We have travelled a long road together. I think of the difficult decisions we talked through for hours and the sacrifices no one else saw,” he said.
Tinubu added that if he had the opportunity to begin his life again, he would still choose the path that brought him to Oluremi.
He wished the First Lady many more years of good health, happiness and fulfilment, saying, “Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy.”
