Hull City winger, Sorba Thomas, has escaped unhurt after his car was involved in a crash near the club’s training ground in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.
The 27-year-old Wales international was involved in the accident on Millhouse Woods Lane on Friday morning.
His grey Land Rover Defender was pictured overturned on its roof, with its windows shattered.
Humberside Police said emergency services remained at the scene and urged motorists and members of the public to avoid the area.
Hull City said it was “relieved” that Thomas was unharmed in the incident. The club stated, “The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.”
A resident living near the scene said the crash, which occurred at about 08:30 BST, woke her from sleep.
She said, “I was laid in bed [and] heard a noise – crash, bang,” adding, “I got up, come down and the car is in my hedge.”
An NHS worker who lives on the road said the crash prevented him from getting to work because the road had been blocked.
He said, “There will be patients who will miss appointments because of this,” and added, “It’s one road in and one road out. It was an accident waiting to happen.”
Thomas joined Hull City from Championship side Stoke City earlier this month on a four-year deal running until 2030.
He moved to the Tigers for an undisclosed fee and previously represented Wales at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
