Super Lig: Gaziantep FK beat Göztepe in six-goal thriller

Gaziantep FK secured an impressive 4-2 away victory over Göztepe in their Turkish Süper Lig clash on Monday.

The visitors made a flying start in İzmir, taking the lead after just five minutes through Halil Dervişoğlu, who finished after goalkeeper Tobiasz’s long clearance fell into his path.

Gaziantep doubled their advantage a minute later when Abena headed home from Maxim’s corner.

Göztepe were handed a chance to reduce the deficit in the 31st minute after VAR intervention resulted in a penalty for a handball by Kozlowski. However, Miroshi’s spot-kick was saved by Tobiasz.

Gaziantep took full advantage of the reprieve, with Kozlowski making it 3-0 in the 35th minute after the ball fell to him following a clearance.

Kozlowski struck again in first-half stoppage time, racing through the Göztepe defence before calmly finishing with his left foot to give the visitors a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.

Göztepe pulled one back six minutes into the second half through Juan, who converted from close range after Janderson’s pass.

Their comeback hopes suffered another setback in the 72nd minute when Ogün Bayrak was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Gassama.

Juan scored his second of the night from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, but it was not enough to prevent Göztepe from suffering defeat.

The victory lifted Gaziantep FK to seven points from four matches, while Göztepe remained on one point.

Göztepe will travel to Alanyaspor in their next league fixture, while Gaziantep FK will host Fenerbahçe.
