Serie A: Gatti’s late header earns Juventus draw against Milan

Juventus scored deep into stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw against AC Milan in an entertaining Serie A clash at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Milan appeared set to maintain their perfect start to the season after Alphadjo Cissè gave the visitors the lead in the 69th minute.

The hosts had controlled much of the contest and created several opportunities but struggled to beat Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Nicolas González tested Maignan from long range early in the game, before Francisco Conceição also forced the goalkeeper into action.

Juventus came even closer after the break when Conceição’s powerful effort from outside the box struck the post, leaving Milan unscathed.

However, Milan broke the deadlock against the run of play when substitute Samuel Chukwueze drove forward before finding Cissè.

The forward cut inside and curled the ball beyond the goalkeeper to put the visitors ahead.

Juventus refused to give up and continued pushing for an equaliser.

Their persistence finally paid off in the second minute of stoppage time when Teun Koopmeiners delivered a cross into the box and Federico Gatti rose highest to head the ball home.

The late goal ensured both Juventus and Milan remained unbeaten after three league matches, with each side having won their opening two games before Sunday’s encounter.
