Nigerian striker Victor Olatunji joins Belgian side SK Beveren on loan

Nigerian striker, Victor Olatunji, has left Major League Soccer temporarily after completing a loan move to Belgian Pro League side SK Beveren.

SK Beveren confirmed the signing on Friday, with the 26-year-old joining from MLS club Real Salt Lake for the remainder of the 2026-27 season.

Olatunji’s loan agreement will run until June 30, 2027, as he begins a new chapter in Belgian football.

The forward made history on September 18, 2024, when he became the first Nigerian player to score and provide an assist on his UEFA Champions League debut.

He was also the third African player to achieve the feat, after Daniel Cousin and Serge Aurier.

Since moving to Real Salt Lake, Olatunji has made 25 appearances in the American top flight, scoring five goals.

The striker is known for his pace and physical strength, with his ability to exploit space behind defensive lines and cause problems in and around the penalty area.

Before moving to the United States, Olatunji built his career across several clubs, including Lagos Islanders, Inter Bratislava, Mattersburg, Alki Oroklini, AEK Larnaca and Slovan Liberec.

Olatunji remains contracted to Real Salt Lake, with his deal running until June 2026.
