La Liga: Raphinha, Yamal shine as Barcelona crush Rayo 5-2

Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the 2026-27 LaLiga campaign after overcoming Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at Spotify Camp Nou on Monday night.

Rayo stunned the home supporters by taking the lead after just 12 minutes through Sergio Camello, who finished from Álvaro García’s cutback.

Barcelona responded quickly, with Raphinha restoring parity seven minutes later after driving into the box and finding the bottom corner.

Lamine Yamal then completed the turnaround in the 21st minute, cutting inside before unleashing a superb effort into the top corner for his first league goal of the season.

Barcelona continued to dominate after taking the lead, with Anthony Gordon and Marc Bernal both forcing saves from Rayo goalkeeper Dani Cárdenas.

The hosts extended their advantage six minutes after the restart when Florian Lejeune inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

Rayo refused to surrender and reduced the deficit in the 59th minute when Camello scored his second of the night with a flicked finish from Unai López’s corner.

Barcelona eventually restored their two-goal cushion through Raphinha, who calmly converted after Gordon created the opportunity with a clever backheel.

Yamal then put the result beyond doubt in the final minute, finishing from Karim Adeyemi’s layoff to complete his brace.

The victory keeps Barcelona at the top of LaLiga and extends their winning start to the new campaign, while Rayo remain without a victory after their opening three matches.

Camello’s brace gave Rayo plenty of encouragement, but Barcelona’s attacking quality ultimately proved decisive as Raphinha and Yamal each scored twice.
