Barcelona agree deal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal

Barcelona have agreed to sign Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus in a permanent transfer, with the Brazilian set to undergo his medical on Monday.

The Catalan giants turned to Jesus after their pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez became complicated, with Atletico unwilling to sanction the Argentine’s departure.

According to reports from Spain, Barcelona identified Jesus as an alternative to strengthen their attacking options following Robert Lewandowski’s exit.

Jesus has struggled for regular playing time at Arsenal this season, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres ahead of him in the pecking order.

His contract with the Premier League champions runs until 2027.

The 29-year-old has reportedly been keen on a move to Barcelona, a club he has admired since his days at Palmeiras before joining Manchester City in 2016.

Barcelona also considered Jesus’ injury history before reaching an agreement.

The striker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee in January 2025 but has since recovered fully.

Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 appearances for Manchester City between 2016 and 2022 before registering 33 goals in 123 matches for Arsenal from 2022 to 2026.

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the agreement, stating, “Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. The deal is done.”

Romano added, “The medical has been booked for tomorrow, Monday, and Arsenal will receive a financial package worth 10 million euros, plus add-ons, in exchange for Jesus’s permanent move to Barcelona.”

He further revealed: “Gabriel Jesus will travel to undergo the medical, after receiving permission from Arsenal.”

According to Romano, Jesus will sign a two-year contract with Barcelona, with an option to extend his stay until 2029.

The agreement for Jesus does not appear to have ended Barcelona’s interest in Alvarez, with the Spanish giants reportedly still considering a move for the Atletico Madrid striker in a future transfer window.
