The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, has explained her involvement with an organisation presenting itself as a Federal Government agency after the body was reportedly exposed as fraudulent.
Nnake said her association with the organisation was limited to her official nomination as Anambra State’s focal person and the state’s preparations to host a South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair.
In a statement issued late Saturday, the SSG said the clarification became necessary after her photograph appeared on the organisation’s platform and she was identified as one of its state coordinators.
She explained that the Anambra State Government received a letter in January 2026 from an entity described as the Made-in-Nigeria Office under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to her, the state government was asked to nominate a focal person, after which Governor Chukwuma Soludo nominated her for the position in February.
“Following the nominations, Focal Persons from the 36 states have been in a WhatsApp group engaging on issues relating to the activities of the office,” she said.
Nnake added that the same organisation subsequently approached the state government with a request for Anambra to host the South-East edition of its Made-in-Nigeria Fair.
She said the request was approved and an inaugural planning meeting was held about two weeks ago, with the organisation’s national coordinator present.
The state committee, she added, subsequently commenced preparations for the event, which was scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026.
However, following the discovery by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission that the purported federal office was allegedly fake, the SSG said the state government realised it had been misled.
Nnake stressed that her interactions with the organisation had been restricted to the official activities connected to her nomination and the proposed fair.
“Beyond these official interactions and engagements, I have no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection with any other activities, claims, or developments attributed to the said office,” she stated.
She added, “I therefore wish to make it clear that anything beyond the above-mentioned official interactions is entirely outside my knowledge and involvement.”
The clarification followed reports surrounding the purported Made-in-Nigeria Agency, which allegedly operated under the name of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Nnake said she decided to publicly explain her role to prevent her official position and photograph from being interpreted as evidence of involvement in activities beyond those she had participated in on behalf of the Anambra State Government.
