Ghana striker Fuseini robbed at gunpoint in Belgium

Ghana international, Mohammed Fuseini, has been left shaken after he was targeted in a brazen armed robbery in broad daylight in Brussels, Belgium, where masked assailants forcibly took his luxury Rolex watch.

According to Belgian broadcaster HLN, the incident happened on Sunday when three masked men allegedly pulled the 24-year-old Union Saint-Gilloise forward from his vehicle before stealing his Rolex, reportedly worth between €8,000 and €14,000.

The attackers were also said to have been assisted by two accomplices who searched Fuseini’s car for additional valuables while the robbery was underway.

After taking the items, the group fled, leaving the striker visibly traumatised.

Reacting to the incident, Union Saint-Gilloise expressed concern over the disturbing attack on their player.

“The images captured last Sunday are extremely shocking,” the club said in an official statement, adding that the Ghanaian had since returned to training after receiving medical attention at a hospital to confirm he had not sustained serious injuries.

The robbery was not an isolated case. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office disclosed that two other people were also attacked under similar circumstances on the same day.

“Three people were the victims of an armed robbery while returning to their cars in Brussels on Sunday, and according to the initial findings of the investigation, a number of individuals assaulted them and stole various valuables from them, including watches, phones and personal belongings.”

Belgian investigators have already made progress in the case, with one suspect identified and taken into custody.

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office confirmed that “during a search of his home, stolen goods were found,” adding that “he has been charged with armed robbery as part of an organised gang, and a detention order has been issued against him”.

Prosecutors have requested that an investigating judge oversee the case while the suspect remains in custody pending trial.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the remaining members of the gang believed to be responsible for the series of robberies.
