At least four people have been killed after Russia launched a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks across Ukraine overnight, according to Ukrainian authorities on Sunday.
The latest bombardment comes ahead of a meeting in Paris on Monday, where Ukraine’s allies are expected to discuss ways to increase pressure on Russia to bring an end to the war that has lasted for more than four years.
Ukraine has continued to face mounting challenges in defending its airspace as Russian forces intensify ballistic missile attacks in recent weeks.
Although the United States has authorised Ukraine to produce US-designed Patriot air defence systems capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles, the systems are not expected to enter production for several months.
Regional officials said three people lost their lives in overnight attacks on the central Dnipropetrovsk region. Two of the victims were killed when an “industrial enterprise” in the city of Kryvyi Rig was struck.
In southern Ukraine, a separate Russian drone attack claimed the life of a 48-year-old resident in the city of Kherson, Mayor Yaroslav Shanko reported.
