Police dislodge kidnappers hideout along Abuja–Kaduna border

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested four suspected kidnappers and bandits during a security operation in the Paze–Byazhin Hills, a boundary area linking Abuja, Kaduna and Niger States.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended during a raid that also led security forces to a hideout believed to have been used for holding victims and coordinating criminal activities.

According to information shared on social media by businessdaytelevision_ng, the location served as a concealed base where the gang allegedly kept abducted persons and planned operations.

During an on-the-spot assessment of the site, a police officer described how the terrain had been used by the suspects as a refuge and operational ground.

“This is where they come to hide. They take people into the rocks and keep them there, then return here,” the officer said.

He further explained that the hideout functioned as both a shelter and a logistics hub for the criminal group.

“This is where they sleep at night, cook their food and organise their logistics,” he added.

The officer noted that the breakthrough in the operation followed earlier arrests made in the surrounding hills, which provided intelligence that led to the discovery of the hideout.

“The last operation we undertook that led to this arrest was right behind the hills. It was their arrest that led us to this particular location afterwards,” he said.

Security authorities confirmed that the area has now been taken over by operatives, who will maintain a continuous presence to prevent the return of criminal elements.

“We have taken over this location, and our men will continue to maintain a presence here. We will ensure that these people do not come back again and take over this place,” the officer stated.

The operation is part of ongoing security efforts to curb kidnapping and banditry along the Abuja–Kaduna–Niger corridor, a region that has experienced repeated attacks in recent years.
