AIK Stockholm eye Nigeria’s Shedrack Egboh as Yohanna replacement

Swedish club, AIK are reportedly weighing up a move for Nigerian youngster Shedrack Egboh as they seek a replacement for Zadok Yohanna following his departure to the Premier League.

Yohanna, 18, sealed a record transfer from AIK to Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, becoming one of the most exciting Nigerian prospects to emerge from the Swedish club.

The gifted winger is also set to become only the second Nigerian player to feature for Brighton after former Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun.

Reports indicate that Egboh is expected to undergo a trial with AIK later this summer as the club evaluates the teenager ahead of a possible deal.

Should he impress during the assessment period, the Swedish side could move swiftly to secure the services of the highly-rated winger.

Egboh, also 18, is regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest emerging talents and has already drawn attention from a number of clubs across Europe.

Egboh Tipped As Yohanna’s Successor
Following Yohanna’s transfer, AIK recruitment manager Miika Takkula reiterated the club’s commitment to identifying promising young players, nurturing their growth and eventually helping them secure moves to bigger teams.

“An important part of the strategy is to sign young players with potential, develop them and then sell them on. This (the sale of Yohanna) is a perfect example of how we want to work,” he disclosed.

“This is a big and important moment for us, to follow the strategy and not do other things.

“The goal is to build the team, increase the market value of the squad and we will continue with the same type of structure. Many young players in the squad, a lot of potential to increase market value and sell, but at the same time combine it with key players who are in their “prime”.”
