The family of late Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo has fixed June 18, 2026, for his burial, which will take place in Arochukwu, Abia State.

In a statement shared on his verified Instagram account on Monday, the family confirmed that a series of rites will be held in honour of the actor, who passed away on May 11 at the age of 40.

They noted that relatives, colleagues, friends, fans, and other sympathisers are expected to participate in the ceremonies celebrating his life.

The announcement, issued on behalf of the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family and signed by Mazi Alex Oji Ekubo Okwaraeke, portrayed the late actor as someone whose life reflected affection, warmth, generosity, humour, and strong faith, as well as deep commitment to God and those close to him.

The family had earlier disclosed that the actor died at Evercare Hospital after suffering complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer, following what they described as a short but courageous fight with the illness.

Born in Port Harcourt and originally from Arochukwu in Abia State, Ekubo first gained public attention after finishing as first runner-up in the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition before fully transitioning into acting.

He went on to feature in several Nollywood productions, including Weekend Getaway, The Bling Lagosians, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, and Áfàméfùnà: An Nwa Boi Story.

The family appealed to the public, friends, and fans to continue praying for the deceased’s wife and relatives, while also encouraging them to honour his memory.
