Guardiola to leave Man City after Sunday finale after 10-year reign

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, will step down from his role after Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa, according to Daily Mail.

The 55-year-old is expected to end a remarkable decade at Manchester City, during which he has won 20 trophies and transformed the club into one of Europe’s dominant forces.

His tenure has included six Premier League titles, featuring an unprecedented run of four consecutive championships, as well as delivering the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League crown.

Reports suggest the club have already begun informing key sponsor partners that an official announcement is imminent.

The development is also said to have been widely anticipated among individuals close to Guardiola.

The news is expected to be confirmed on Sunday, with plans in place for a celebratory open-top bus parade on Monday to honour his impact on English football.

The procession is expected to begin in Manchester’s Northern Quarter at around 4pm before concluding at the Colin Bell Stand reception at the Etihad Stadium roughly an hour later.

Guardiola’s future has been the subject of speculation for several months, particularly after it emerged he was considering bringing his long spell at the club to an end despite having one year remaining on his contract.

There remains a possibility he could stay at the club in a different capacity. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are the opponents for City’s final league match on Sunday.

City recently beat Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley to lift the FA Cup and are still locked in a Premier League title race with Arsenal. They also face Bournemouth away on Tuesday before concluding the season at the Etihad.
